This work titled 'Ynys Anrheg' (in English 'Island Gift') refers to other works using materials readily available in the farm supplies stores of Amaethwyr Clynderwen a Cheredigion Cyf.
The work refers to water as a gift and has political overtones which might imply, "if water is given freely, why not oil, or food, or medicines".
The work is an island of gift wrapped water from the mountain, Moel Senig of Merthyr Farm, above Harlech.
In the estuary below is a small island bearing the name 'Ynys Giftan' which in English refers to the gift of this island to Queen Ann 1702-14.Begun as part of the site specific work for the Harlech Biennale International Residencies and completed 29 September 2002. |
